Oregon's spring break is right around the corner, and that means lots of family time! Hopefully you're jetting off to a nice, warm destination, but staying home in the Portland-metro area has some perks as well...

Looking for educational activities?

Check out the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (aka OMSI) for featured rotating exhibits, submarine tours, countless science-based hands on attractions, and an IMAX movie theater that plays lots of documentaries and educational films.

Want something sweet?

Portland has some great bakeries, including Bliss Bake Shop (where we host our parties!), and the higher-end Papa Hayden. A fun, kid-friendly breakfast place on the east side, Slappy Cakes, lets you choose your pancake batter and cook them yourselves. So many sweet choices!

Dreaming of a mini-vacation?

The Oregon coast may be dreary, but the rare days of good weather make it all worthwhile. With so many quaint beach towns like Cannon Beach and Manzanita, it's easy to get outside and start doing something fun. Head up to Astoria to visit the Columbia River Maritime Museum, which features exhibits about the coast guard, the Columbia River Bar Pilots, and seasonal educational movies.

Trying to get outside?

Portland boasts many trails and viewpoints. Council Crest, Pittock Mansion, and even the Oregon Zoo make excellent daily outings with hikes nearby. Multnomah Falls is a great starter hike as most of the main trail is paved.

Wherever you go, look for adventure and take lots of pictures!
